Travis Head Takes on Unexpected New Roles Ahead of Huge Cricket Summer
Travis Head has stepped outside his comfort zone ahead of a massive summer of cricket, taking on some surprisingly different roles for Kayo Sport’s new seven-month “Summer of the Century” campaign.
The Australian batting star appears in the promotional calendar cuddling puppies, cooking up a barbecue and even posing romantically with an English rose.
The campaign, which runs from September through March, is designed to keep fans across the biggest sporting action of the summer.
Head admitted some of the photoshoots were definitely not typical for him.
“My wife laughed at the rose one but loved the puppies, it was well out of my comfort zone,” he said.
“It’s a good way of doing it and promoting the game. It does feel like it’s cricket 24/7 at the moment.”
Despite his new promotional personas, Head says his most important role remains being a father.
The cricketer and his wife, Jess, share two young children, Milla and Harrison. The family has spent the week in Sydney and hopes to return home to Adelaide on Sunday for Father’s Day.
Head said he has enjoyed having more time with his family during the off-season, even though his career often keeps him away from home.
“I’ve had a few months at home in the off-season which was rare,” he said.
“It’s good to be around family, it’s tough being in and out of home but we try our best.”
