Nigella Lawson’s Unexpected Behind-the-Scenes Habit Has The Great British Baking Show Hosts Amused
Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding are sharing some amusing behind-the-scenes details about new Great British Baking Show judge Nigella Lawson.
The longtime hosts recently appeared on the Dish podcast, where they discussed what it is like working alongside the celebrated British chef as she joins the hit baking competition.
“Unbelievable,” Hammond said when asked about working with Lawson, adding that she is “so beautiful” and “really nice.”
Fielding also revealed one of Lawson’s distinctive habits while the cast and crew are away from the famous baking tent.
According to Fielding, everyone has small “shepherd’s huts” facing one another, and Lawson can often be spotted relaxing inside hers while surrounded by books.
“She’s got a stack of books, and she sort of lies like Cleopatra would lie,” Fielding joked.
“On a chaise lounge,” Hammond added.
Fielding explained that Lawson sometimes calls them over while she is stretched out across the furniture.
“Sometimes as you’re walking by, she summons you in,” he said, joking that visitors have to kneel at her feet because she takes up the entire chaise lounge.
He compared the experience to feeling “like a child in assembly” before adding, “She’s amazing.”
Hammond also revealed another side of Lawson’s generous personality, saying the new judge has brought cheeses, breads and salted granola for the crew.
The hosts also discussed the dynamic between Lawson and longtime judge Paul Hollywood, who has been part of the show since its beginning.
Fielding admitted that the two judges do not always agree, describing their disagreements as “quite exciting” and saying it becomes “sparky when they don’t agree.”
Hammond agreed, emphasizing that having different opinions is part of what makes the judging dynamic interesting.
“I love the whole dynamic of it,” she said.
