Meghan Markle’s Reported ‘The Gentlemen’ Role Sparks Mystery at Netflix Premiere
Nearly two weeks after reports surfaced that Meghan Markle is in talks to join Netflix’s hit series The Gentlemen, the cast remained tight-lipped about the possibility at the show’s Season 2 premiere.
Speaking at the London premiere on Wednesday, Theo James told BBC News that the reports were “a lot of rumour,” while Maya Jama joked that she would be “the last person to know.”
Vinnie Jones also admitted he had heard “only what you have,” before joking that the series already has plenty of “pretty women.”
Kaya Scodelario kept her response brief, saying the matter was “way above my pay grade,” while Hugh Bonneville simply said he had “no idea” whether there was any truth to the reports.
Jama, who is herself a newcomer to the cast, said she would have no advice for Meghan, adding: “She’s a seasoned actor. She knows what she’s doing.”
The show’s writer and executive producer, Matthew Read, stopped short of confirming or denying Meghan’s involvement. Instead, he teased that viewers can expect “more energy and surprises” in Season 2 and beyond.
Created by Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen follows a duke who becomes involved in the criminal underworld after inheriting a sprawling estate connected to a drug empire. The series became a major Netflix hit following its 2024 debut and has already been renewed for a third season.
Talks involving Meghan are reportedly still in the early stages, and no details have been confirmed about what role she could potentially play.
Guy Ritchie attended the premiere but did not speak to reporters, leaving the Meghan speculation unresolved for now.
