Lizzo Speaks Out After Remaining Claims in Lawsuit Are Dismissed
Lizzo is speaking out after a federal judge dismissed the remaining claims in a lawsuit brought by her former wardrobe assistant against her touring company.
Asha Daniels accused Big Grrrl Big Touring of subjecting her to “degradation, forced physical labor, denial of medical care, sexual harassment, and racial harassment” during her brief time working for the company in 2023.
U.S. District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha dismissed the remaining claims in a ruling filed Tuesday.
Following the decision, Lizzo said she was “relieved” by the outcome and vowed to continue fighting the allegations made against her and her businesses.
“The truth matters to me more than anything,” the singer wrote on Instagram. She also thanked her legal team and supporters, adding that she would continue using her platform to “spread positivity and light to the world.”
The case originally included Lizzo as an individual defendant, but Judge Aenlle-Rocha ruled in 2024 that Daniels could not pursue the claims against the singer personally. The lawsuit against Big Grrrl Big Touring, however, continued.
In his latest ruling, the judge said Daniels had not identified conduct by company employees that demonstrated broader hostility toward women or unequal treatment based on gender.
The judge also addressed Daniels’ claim that her foot was injured after being struck by a heavy clothing rack. While acknowledging the pain she experienced, he concluded that the alleged injuries did not meet the legal definition of a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Daniels’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, said the legal team was disappointed with the ruling and disagreed with the court’s assessment of the evidence.
“We believe the decision improperly weighed evidence that should have been evaluated by a jury,” Zambrano said, adding that the team is considering its next steps.
Daniels filed the lawsuit in September 2023, shortly after three former dancers also sued Lizzo and made allegations including sexual harassment. Lizzo’s representatives have denied those allegations.
A separate claim involving alleged fat-shaming was dismissed by a judge in 2025.
For Lizzo, the latest ruling represents another significant development in the legal battles that have surrounded her touring operation in recent years.
