Jonathan Lipnicki Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance Years After Child-Star Fame
Jonathan Lipnicki is all grown up.
The actor, best known for his childhood roles in Jerry Maguire and Stuart Little, made a rare public appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of Primetime, marking his first red carpet appearance in two years.
Lipnicki, 36, stars in the film alongside Robert Pattinson and Phoebe Bridgers. He walked the red carpet with director Lance Oppenheim and also posed for photos with a woman who appeared to be his date for the evening. The pair looked cozy as Lipnicki coordinated his purple pocket square with her dress.
The actor also celebrated the film’s release on Instagram, encouraging fans to check out Primetime, which hit theaters on September 25.
Although Lipnicki stepped away from the spotlight after becoming a major child star, he has made it clear that he never abandoned his acting ambitions.
In a previous interview with E! News, Lipnicki explained that he never intentionally left Hollywood. Instead, he was focused on having a more normal teenage experience while continuing to audition.
“I wasn’t, like, ‘I’m stepping away.’ I still had my agent, I’d audition here and there,” he said.
Despite landing major roles at a young age, including appearing alongside Tom Cruise when he was just six, Lipnicki said he was able to experience many of the things other teenagers did.
“I played water polo in high school. I went to prom, I did all the normal stuff,” he recalled. “I played youth league sports. So, yeah, [acting] wasn’t the only fixture in my life.”
As he got older, however, Lipnicki found that success in Hollywood did not come as easily.
He revealed that he auditioned for numerous projects but often wasn’t chosen, even though acting remained something he deeply loved.
“I auditioned for a lot and I just didn’t get things,” he said. “Acting is this thing that I’ve always loved, and sometimes it just doesn’t love you back.”
After a period without much work, Lipnicki continued pursuing acting—and his latest red carpet appearance shows that his Hollywood journey is far from over.
