ROB REINER WINS EMMY AFTER HIS DEATH/ Emotional Standing Ovation Leaves Stars in Tears
Nine months after his tragic death, Hollywood legend Rob Reiner has been honored with a posthumous Emmy for his performance in FX’s acclaimed series The Bear.
Reiner won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy on Sunday during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony in Los Angeles.
The beloved actor and filmmaker received a lengthy standing ovation from friends and fellow industry members in the audience as his posthumous victory was announced.
Best known for directing iconic films including The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap and Misery, Reiner made his final television appearance in Season 4 of The Bear.
He portrayed a kind-hearted business consultant, earning praise from viewers and sparking hopes that he might return for the show’s fifth season.
Those hopes were shattered following his death in December 2025. Reiner was found dead at his Brentwood, Los Angeles, home alongside his wife of more than four decades, Michele Singer Reiner.
Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged in connection with their deaths and has pleaded not guilty.
In the Emmy category, Reiner competed against Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for Shrinking, Hamish Linklater for Widow’s Bay, Christopher McDonald for Hacks and Connor Storrie for Saturday Night Live.
The emotional win marked a poignant final tribute to a Hollywood icon whose career spanned decades.
