NCIS: ORIGINS Brings Sean Harmon Back—But Not as Gibbs
Sean Harmon is returning to the NCIS universe in Season 3 of NCIS: ORIGINS, but this time, he won’t be playing a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
Instead, Harmon will take on a brand-new role as FBI Agent Casey Bloom in the second episode of the season, titled “My Own Worst Enemy.” The episode is scheduled to air October 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
Sean previously appeared in the original NCIS, portraying a younger version of Gibbs in flashbacks alongside his father, Mark Harmon, who played the iconic character for nearly two decades.
When NCIS: ORIGINS premiered in 2024, Austin Stowell was chosen to portray the younger Gibbs. Sean Harmon, meanwhile, took on a behind-the-scenes role as an executive producer and helped develop the idea for the prequel.
His new appearance adds another interesting connection to the long-running franchise. While Sean plays a completely different character, his father, Mark Harmon, will have a much larger presence in Season 3.
Mark Harmon has narrated the series since its debut, but Season 3 will see him appear on screen throughout the season as present-day Gibbs becomes involved in a new mystery connected to his past.
The second episode will also feature the return of Bobby Moynihan as Woody Browne. The storyline will follow the 1992 team as they rally around Woody after he is accused of murdering a bowling rival, while present-day Gibbs turns to an older Woody for help.
Season 3 of NCIS: ORIGINS premieres October 6 on CBS, with Sean Harmon’s guest appearance arriving one week later.
For fans of the Harmon family and the NCIS franchise, Sean’s return offers a fun twist: this time, he’s stepping into the story as an entirely new character rather than revisiting the role that first connected him to Gibbs.
