Few TV franchises have had the staying power of NCIS. Although the original NCIS series premiered in 2003, many of its most iconic characters were first introduced on JAG, which ran from 1995 to 2003.
During JAG Season 8, fans were introduced to characters including Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum). They would later become central figures in the NCIS universe.
With more than 500 episodes and 23 seasons, NCIS remains one of television’s longest-running franchises, and its prequel series, NCIS: Origins, is continuing that legacy.
Fans recently received exciting news when CBS confirmed that Mark Harmon will return as Leroy Jethro Gibbs for Season 3 of NCIS: Origins, premiering Tuesday, October 6. While Harmon has previously appeared in a limited capacity, the upcoming season will give his older version of Gibbs a much larger recurring role.
CBS has now revealed a new photo from Season 3, Episode 2, featuring Harmon’s Gibbs alongside his friend Woody, played by Bobby Moynihan. The episode will also feature Harmon’s son, Sean Harmon, as FBI Agent Casey Bloom.
Episode 2 was written by Laura Valdivia and directed by Jessica Lowrey, adding even more anticipation for Gibbs’ return to the NCIS universe.
