Eva Mendes Reveals the Sweet Meaning Behind Her Only Tattoo for Ryan Gosling
Eva Mendes has revealed a touching detail about the only tattoo she has ever gotten — and it is a permanent tribute to her longtime partner, Ryan Gosling.
The Ghost Rider actress recently opened up about the tattoo, which features the words “de Gosling” on the inside of her wrist.
Mendes, 52, showed off the ink again in a series of black-and-white photos from a recent photoshoot shared on Instagram on August 28. After a fan noticed the tattoo and commented on it, Mendes revealed just how meaningful it is to her.
“It’s the only one I have,” she explained, adding that it is “the only one I’ve ever wanted.” She finished the sweet message with a heart-eyes emoji.
Mendes and Gosling have been together since meeting while filming the 2011 movie The Place Beyond the Pines. The couple share two daughters, Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 10.
A Tattoo With a Special Meaning
Mendes first publicly showed the tattoo in 2022, although she later hinted that the design had actually been on her wrist for much longer.
The words “de Gosling” can be translated as “of Gosling” in several languages, leading fans to speculate about whether the tattoo could be connected to the couple’s marital status.
Neither Mendes nor Gosling has officially confirmed whether they are legally married.
However, Mendes has occasionally referred to Gosling as her “husband.”
During a 2022 interview with Today Australia, she spoke about spending time in Australia with Gosling and their children.
“My husband Ryan is here and our children are here,” she said at the time, adding that the family was having a wonderful experience.
Despite years of public interest in their relationship, Mendes and Gosling have largely kept their family life private.
Her latest comments about the tattoo, however, offered fans a rare glimpse into just how special their relationship remains — with Mendes making it clear that the ink is not simply a piece of body art, but a deeply personal symbol of her love for Gosling.
