Elizabeth Smart Shares Her Bodybuilding Results: “I’m So Proud of Myself”
Elizabeth Smart is celebrating the hard work and determination behind her latest bodybuilding competition, regardless of where she finished.
Nearly five months after revealing her new passion for bodybuilding, the 38-year-old activist shared a video from her most recent competition on Instagram, showing herself posing onstage in a blue bikini.
“Another show for the books,” Smart wrote alongside the Sept. 5 video, explaining that simply stepping onto the stage has always felt like a personal victory.
Smart competed in two categories at the event: Masters 35+, which is open to competitors aged 35 and older, and Open Class D, a height-based division. She revealed that she finished toward the bottom of both categories.
Despite the results, Smart said she was proud of the experience and everything that went into preparing for the competition.
“I’m so proud of myself for the hard work, discipline, and bravery it takes me to compete,” she shared.
The experience also gave Smart the opportunity to work with her coach, Robyn Maher, compete alongside her best friend, and receive support from her loved ones in the audience.
For Smart, the competition appears to be about much more than rankings—it’s about challenging herself, staying disciplined and celebrating how far she has come.
The activist, who became an advocate for trauma survivors following her 2002 kidnapping and disappearance, is also a mother of three children with her husband, Matthew Gilmour.
