Dolly Parton Makes UK Chart History Following Her Death
Dolly Parton’s music is surging up the UK charts following the country music legend’s death at age 80, with three of her biggest hits landing in the Top 10 at the same time.
Parton’s iconic track **“9 to 5”** has achieved its highest-ever position on the UK singles chart, climbing to No. 5. **“Jolene”** reached No. 6, while **“Islands in the Stream,”** her famous 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers, landed at No. 9.
The Official Charts Company confirmed that Parton has made history by having three songs simultaneously appear in the UK Top 10.
“Jolene” originally peaked at No. 7 in 1976, while “Islands in the Stream” reached No. 7 in 1984. Meanwhile, “9 to 5,” written for the hit comedy film of the same name, previously peaked at No. 12 before its latest surge.
Parton’s posthumous chart success has also extended to the UK albums chart. **“Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection”** has climbed to No. 5, marking its first appearance in the Top 5 since its release in 2022.
Meanwhile, fellow country singer-songwriter **Ella Langley** claimed this week’s No. 1 spot with **“Choosin’ Texas,”** giving her the first UK chart-topper of her career. The song has steadily climbed since debuting at No. 78 in January.
On the albums chart, US singer **Alex Warren** took the No. 1 position with *Wildchild*, which also topped the UK vinyl albums chart for the highest physical sales.
