Bruce Willis’ health condition has deeply affected his family, while the actor’s daughters have also faced difficult questions about their own health and family history.
One of his daughters, Rumer Willis, has spoken about genetic testing and concerns surrounding the possibility of developing the condition. However, she acknowledged that genetic test results cannot determine with certainty whether someone will eventually develop the disease.
Rumer has also opened up about the emotional pain of watching her father change as his condition has progressed.
“I really miss my dad, I miss a different version of him,” she said.
Bruce Willis’ family announced in 2022 that the actor had been diagnosed with aphasia. A year later, they revealed that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
His wife, Emma Heming Willis, has said that the disease has continued to progress and that communicating with the actor has become increasingly difficult.
Meanwhile, Willis’ daughters have been trying to adjust to the changes brought on by his illness while remaining close to their father and supporting one another.
Despite the difficult circumstances, the family has continued to speak publicly about frontotemporal dementia and support efforts to raise awareness and advance research into the disease.
